Guardians of the Sacred Legong Dance

Several beautiful girls danced together in the courtyard of Payogan Agung temple in the village of Ketewel, Sukawati, Ubud near Gianyar at the beginning of October. The dancers were dressed in a crown of gold, decorated with fresh flowers and headdresses. Other girls dressed in costumes similar patiently sat in the corner of the temple waiting for their turn to perform. Ni KADEK Dewi Puspayanti and other girls are members of the team, legong that has not been set up to entertain tourists and lovers of dance, but to serve in a series of rituals, ceremonies and celebrations. Team has been testing the opening and closing ceremonies in Payogan Agung temple celebration.
